BlackBerry coming back with AMD! But won’t make phones

Ana sayfa / Technology

AMD and BlackBerry have announced a collaboration to develop new robotic systems. AMD Kria chips and BlackBerry QNX operating system will be used in the next generation robot models. So what do these two brands’ robotic systems promise?

The two companies unveiled their integrated solution combining the Kria SOM chip with QNX at the Embedded World conference. The aim is to reduce jitter and latency for robotic applications. Reducing latency will lead to faster response times. This will open the door to faster robots.

This development will enable robots to work more accurately and with higher quality, especially in safety-critical applications such as surgery, manufacturing and automobiles. Kria modules are compatible with both Arm and programmable FPGA.

QNX supports advanced capabilities such as high-performance processing, real-time control and industrial networking. Speaking on the subject, Grant Courville, Vice President of BlackBerry QNX, said that the software-hardware platform can be used in critical robotic tasks.

BlackBerry said the new systems can be executed with the same level of precision and responsiveness in every use. It offers “real-time performance, low latency and determinism,” he said.

The companies stated that the robotic systems they have developed are already being offered to industrial customers. In this context, they underlined that they want to revolutionize the next generation robotic systems.
